when it rains…

28 05 2008

it’s just not my week.

i already told off a credit company this week for harassing me.
i think it was more like punching them through the phone with words.

but here is the story of the week:

yesterday, i got a bunch of paintings and prints framed
and i just happened to be on my way to get some gasoline
and my car won’t lock into gear.
i can’t go over 20 mph and the engine just keeps revving up.
i just happened to be in front of pepboys when this is all happening.
or at least i ended up in front of pepboys.

anyway.

so, i go in and tell some early 20something that my engine is acting up.
i specifically said i think my transmission is having trouble and not locking into gear.
he then suggests that they do a diagnostic test.

about 30 minutes later i go to the desk and ask what’s up.
the dude says that it’s a transmission problem and they don’t work on them.
i need to go to a transmission shop.

what?

the diagnostic test costs $87.05.
unbelievable.

so, now i wanna rip someone’s head off
because nobody told me they don’t work on transmissions.
i call geico for emergency towing.
kc wanted to talk or actually tell off the manager at pepboys for trying to take advantage of me.
but i talked to the service manager there and explain how bogus i thought it was that i had to pay for nothing.

he gives me a refund, of course.

so, i have the tow company take me to hirst transmission specialists.
it’s obvious to me that they know what they are doing
judging from all the thank you cards and the plaques on the walls.

stephen hirst laughs at the ridiculousness of pepboys
and offers me to look at my car for FREE to diagnose what is wrong
and that he will call me with all the options i have.

blake comes to pick me up and i plan to go to a show at the red door with a bunch of friends.
we drop off my newly framed paintings and i got a call from stephen.
i basically need to rebuild my transmission because it’s slipping from 1st gear to 3rd gear.
it’s pretty common, but very costly.
so, he quotes me about $2400 to $3000 to rebuild it.
if i get a used transmission the quote is still going to be about $2700.
and if i go to honda… i get raped in the poop shoot.

so, i go up there today to look at the warranty that i got when i bought the car in september 2007.
i luckily was smart and bought some care+ plus plan.
he called the company and basically they needed me to give him approval to take the thing apart
and find out exactly what’s going on with my transmission.
they then send out an adjuster or something to take a look and assess everything.
then they decide on what they will do to fix it.
since it is a pretty common thing and stephen says it’s not like i abused the car
my chances are good that they will go ahead with their best option.
in this case it might even be a better option that he rebuild the transmission since it could end up being more cost effective.

*sigh*

so, now i am just waiting and having my mom drive me around.
i pray that everything turns out ok… i just want my car back.
worst case scenario would be that they totally deny covering the car.
then, i will have to find the moneys to rebuild that transmission.

blech.

i guess things could be a lot worse.
i could have been stuck somewhere out there in nowhere’s-ville.

at least i’m with my family and near friends and this town is a lot smaller.
i can still get around ok. i might rent a car. i dunno.

i can tell that kc is concerned and wishes he could be here to protect me from the big bad world.
but he doesn’t realize that he already does by being a good husband.

if anyone out there prays… please pray that everything turns out ok.
i would greatly appreciate any petition you make for me.

the worst part about all of this is that he’s not here.
i miss him with everything in me.

hell city tattoo convention 2008

23 05 2008

i had a blast!!!

i have to say for my first full convention experience, it was pretty great.
i feel a little spoiled.

our booth was in between greg christian of tattoo faction in cleveland
and kevin starai of a+ plus studio in chicago.
those guys are phenomenal.

greg did a painting all weekend and gave it to me!
i’m so super stoked!
i’m going to have it framed and then post a picture.

sean herman and josh woods were a little down the way.
they stayed pretty booked up all weekend.

larry bone was a couple booths down.
he did this t-rex tattoo eating some cereal.
it was incredible!

there were so many people…
krooked ken, the godoy twins, joe capobianco, durb, justin weatherholtz, sweet laraine, lyle tuttle… and many more. i can’t even recall half the names… sorry.

guy aitchison and michelle wortman are completely overrated… in my humble opinion.
when you call your work a phenomenon… i dunno. whatever.

anyway.

i did the art fusion thing. it’s basically a bunch of canvases
and artists get up and start a general idea for 5 minutes
then switch every 3 minutes for about an hour or so.
people usually do skulls or biomechanical stuff… LAME!!!
it was really cool though. i threw in a bunny rabbit and a gingerbread pirate.
haha! they never knew it was coming.

dude… the history channel is doing this series and interviewed me at the convention!
it was so strange. i prolly looked real dumb. hahahaha!
oh well. we shall see i guess.

and then there was an act with the torture king and rubber boy!
you need to check out my myspace album to see all the stuff… it’s crazy!!!

hell city tattoo convention 2008 pics

all the pics are there. :) good weekend!!!

now, i’m back at the shop.
and things are rolling along.
getting more appointments… getting busier.

it’s pretty cool.
i’m learning more and more everyday!

jacob (doughboy) came back in to get a skull and crossbones.
so, i drew one up in 10 minutes for him and he liked it! yay!

Photobucket

and that is about it for now!
