because of the series of events that have happened over the course of a few days, covering so many areas and on so many levels, through myself and what others have brought to the table(whether they knew it or not), i have come up with a question. and after much thought and reading and seeking and praying and listening i have gotten an answer.

i don’t claim that the answer is the end… it only leaves room for more.
and maybe not through more words… but through action.

Question:
so… if we are sinful… and we know this… and God knows this and knows that we are capable of doing (and that we are going to commit) these despicable acts before we commit them… and therefore provides a way out every time… then why do we still commit these horrid acts when we know what is right and what is wrong?!

Answer:
we are self-destructive by nature
and created with an unsatiable appetite.
we are chock full of empty places
because of things withheld from us that we need,
because of precious things or precious people that we have lost,
and sometimes because the empty places are put there by the Creator Himself.

this appetite… this thirst… this hunger…
is there to show us how we have this incredible need.
this need with no measurable width or depth or length.
and we look for countless tangible things to try to fill the needs we have,
but it is not fair for us to use something or someone to provide satisfaction (to fill this void)
for a need that goes much wider and deeper and longer than our own senses can fathom.
because this world and the things and people in it have limits and bounds
and cannot deliver an everlasting solution to a problem that is limitless.

in fact, nothing can provide the solution, fill the void, or satiate the appetite… except God Himself.

we can receive salvation by just asking.
but we must seek satisfaction daily through the Spirit.

“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.” -Psalm 63:1-5 (NIV)
