purpose: day 18
“Share each other’s troubles and problems, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” -Galatians 6:2 (NLT)
life is meant to be shared. fellowship.
smaller is better.
authenticity… a genuine, heart-to-heart, gut-level type of fellowship.
“But if we are living in the light of God’s presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin. If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth.” -I John 1:7-8 (NLT)
this kind of fellowship requires courage and humility.
which is considerably difficult.
sympathy… sharing pain.
we all have a need to be understood and validated.
and mercy… the kind that wins a fight over justice.
“When people sin, you should forgive and comfort them, so they won’t give up in despair.” -II Corinthians 2:7 (CEV)
because we are imperfect, sinful people, we inevitably hurt each other when we’re together for a long enough time.
because of this, we should be aware of what we say and how we act towards one another,
and be quick to apologize for our negative actions and reactions,
and especially forgive others when we have been wronged.
“Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don’t think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing.” -Philippians 2:3-4
