this is soooo good…
“This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” -Philippians 3:13-14 (KJV)
this is so true for me right now.
wow.
this daily verse thing is dead on…
not to mention the other things that are happening to me right now.
mat called me today.
i called him right before my birthday (which is march 30) and he didn’t call me back.
i emailed and he didn’t respond.
i even tried myspace, but he doesn’t use his… eh. thought i would give it a shot.
he’s in prison.
he had a court date two weeks ago (march 27) and they cuffed him and flew him straight there.
just like that.
he was in solitary for 72 hours.
and today was the first day he could make a phone call.
so, he called me not knowing that i have been calling him like crazy and hoping he wasn’t dead.
so… God answered my prayer.
i prayed God would have him thrown in prison.
yes… you read that right.
i did it because right before christmas (if i remember correctly), after not talking to him for a few months, he called me.
this is when he told me that he wanted to go back to church.
red flag.
i asked him what really was the matter.
he then explained the whole court thing and the chance that he might be going to prison.
also, he shared his narcotic addiction.
i told him he knew what he needed to do.
to which he replied he knew… but couldn’t do it.
i knew this. he’s always been like that.
he never wants to let go.
so, i prayed that God would put him in a circumstance that would force him to let go.
force him to cleave to the only thing that could help him…
… God Himself.
i prayed that the Lord would throw him in prison for his own good.
he then shared with me:
-in the 72 hours that mat spent in solitary he read 5 books of the bible because it is the only book they are allowed to read.
one of those books being job.
(one of the best books in my humble opinion… especially for his situation)
-he attends the church services, which is a great opportunity to practice faith.
-there are music instruments and a music room for mat to still use his talents.
-there is a strict diet and excercise to help him get back to being healthy.
-his sentence is for 120 days, but he may be out in 90 days on good behavior… 3 months… i love the number 3.
oh! and the best thing… he gets visting hours saturday and sunday between 12:30 and 3:30 so that i can visit him. did i mention i love the number 3?!
my prayers have been answered!!! PRAISE GOD!!!
i told him that after his sentence he really should consider moving here in atlanta to use his g.i. bill for school… which i also prayed for him to still be able to go to school with assistance because i know the sacrifices he made and that he ultimately worked hard for it despite why he was sentenced to go to prison.
i just believe that he needs to start over and not go back to new york to stay.
he needs to be around people who will help him continue through what he will learn about God through this season.
and i know that my family here in atlanta can do that.
so… never underestimate the power of prayer.
and be careful what you tell me… i might just pray for you.

I did not tell, you asked
don’t be scared…
i only pray good things for you.
hee hee…
