i wish that christians wouldn’t use cuss words.
it hurts my heart.

i mean… i’m not saying i’ve never cussed or sworn under my breath. i’ve also quoted people and not left out the cuss words.

but i just believe that there are plenty of words in the english dictionary that can be used as adjectives, verbs, nouns and adverbs… that would probably be a little more accurate. but what do i know?

i guess pretty soon western culture will phase those out.
and we’ll have 50 page dictionaries with cuss words and different pronounciations and emphases on certain syllables to be used for all of those words that become defunct.

  1. I just say “poop” in place of cuss words. I know it’s gross…but it’s kind of funny. So when I’m angry and I say “Oh Poop!” I actually laugh at myself at how ridiculous it sounds…and I’m not angry anymore.

    Poop!

  2. there need to be words that express all emotions, not just happy positive ones. saying “i fucking dont know, i fucking want to eat a hamburger” ( which i do ) is pointless and weird but saying swears when you get mad is pretty logical, i think.

  3. fuck, im fucking glad im not a fucking christian.

…sorry, i know that was immature, but i couldnt resist.

  4. Part of me agrees.

The other part of me feels words are words, and, when used APPROPRIATELY, there’s nothing wrong with them.

The Bible says don’t curse or use God’s name in vain. Using occasional profanity is not cursing someone. And I don’t use God’s name in vain…

But that one part of me feels that, most of the time, profanity is just dumb and shows a person’s lack of vocabulary.

  5. I agree…. I wish people wouldn’t curse at all, christian or not… there are plenty of other words in the world… heck, instead of cursing people should use other languages if they can’t find a word in english that doesn’t express how they feel… like, look up the word “dissappointed” or “unhappy” in multiple languages and find what works, then use it all the time in place of curse words…. not only would it avoid cursing, it would also make you look more prestigious…

but thats just my opinion… and if my son ever curses, I’m personally washing his mouth out with soup and making him memorize alternate words in a thesaurus….

  6. 1/2 of my two cents…

when i drop a brick on my foot and i scream “fuck” that’s bad, so you say.

    so instead i scream “crap”.

which is intended the exact same way.

the emotion is the same, the english word is just used differently.

or if i drop a brick on my foot and i yell “shoot” it’s the same thing.

we’ve replaceed one word for another, but the intent behind the word is still the same. nothing else has changed.

western christian/american culture has deemed, shit, fuck, bitch, fag, damn, cunt, etc etc to be “bad” therefor we shouldn’t use them.

if you took those same words and taught them to a child who’d never heard them but, told the child an object such as a toaster was called a Fuck and a TV was called a “shit”and they used them in every day conversations would that make the words okay to use?
or would the words still be curse words and wrong to use?

i think not, it all just depends on the context and the intent of the use of the word.

    therefor it makes no difference.

“And you were too busy steering the conversation toward the Lord
to hear the voice of the Spirit, begging you to shut the fuck up.
You thought, it must be the devil, tryin to make you go astray.
And besides, it could not have been the Lord because you don’t believe he talks that way.

case in point, you’ve replaced Fucking for Freaking. what’s the difference?

  8. Re: 1/2 of my two cents…

of course it depends on the intent, use and your own heart.
i was not saying that anyone is a better christian if they don’t cuss.
i didn’t say that i don’t cuss under my breath (i do when i stub my toe sometimes).
it shouldn’t matter to me what you do.
i’m not your judge. i don’t determine how good or bad you are.
it’s just how i feel and something i don’t EXPECT people to understand.

all i was saying was that i (personally) would rather not hear those words come out of peoples mouths.
i just think that there are other words that can be used (and sometimes tons worse in denotation and connotation).
but it’s really a matter of personal preference.
i prefer to not use cuss words.

  9. Re: 1/2 of my two cents…

sorry, but i don’t think of the word “fucking” when i say “freakin” or “freaking”.
    i just don’t.

    and i can’t explain why either…

    call me crazy.

  10. oh poopie indeed.
i didn’t think people would be so responsive to this…

  11. and you are entitled to that.
that doesn’t make you any less of a person.

in fact… you’re one of the most true and honest people i have met.

  12. i knew you would write something like that.

  13. yeah. i see what you’re saying.
    like i said… it’s a personal thing.

people should do what they feel is right.
and i am not trying to tell people what they should and shoudn’t do.

    thank you for the comment!

  14. hahahahah!

    i hope your son doesn’t cuss….
soap doesn’t taste good last time i checked.

  15. Re: 1/2 of my two cents…

ps… the Lord doesn’t talk that way.
